Broken Marriage of Mountbatten's Descendant

Allegra and Ashley Hicks to go their separate ways after 19 years of marriage

Ashley Hicks, the grandson of Earl Mountbatten of Burma and an illustrious name in the world of furniture, has confirmed to Mandrake that he has separated from his wife, the fashion designer Allegra Hicks.

"It's very sad," says a friend of Ashley, whose mother, Lady Pamela Hicks, is a cousin of the Queen. "Like so many people, they have had a very difficult time of it in the past year."
Ashley, 45, whose father was the flamboyant interior designer David Hicks, married the Italian-born Allegra, 47, amid much fanfare in 1990.

The couple set up home in Chelsea, where they became known for their star-studded parties. They have two daughters, Angelica and Ambrosia"
